This DSL "High Speed" connection is often or more times than not, slower or as slow as the dial up I had years ago.

It is union, which is better than non-union Time Warner Cable in my area.

It is union, which is better than the non-union Time Warner Cable. I moved to an area with fast DSL to a part of town that has a slower speed.

AT&T tells me they CAN say 'Never' to when will I get DSL; satelite is so poor I cannot even do Skype; Verizon may have wireless but their MyFi likely will not do too well there either to connect my two laptops and a desktop. dialup is bad at a max of 20-24kbps

I started noticing my my internet speed coming to a crawl after I download a couple of big files from Microsoft and Adobe. I called AT&T to upgrade my service to 6.0 Mbps after I found out I was qualified for that service. It turns out they don't offer it in my area even though I was told different when I checked the availability on AT&T's website. When I brought that up, the rep disregarded that fact and changed the subject by asking me if I was interested in purchasing a cell phone or subscribing to their U-verse.

The vast majority of the 75670 and 75672 zip codes have NO broadband options. Your choices are dial-up (mine averaged 36kbps), 128kbps ISDN for $100 a month on a 2 year contract, or a costly T1 line of about $650 per month, which is what I have been paying the last year and a half. Satellite does not qualify as broadband according to FCC guidelines, though it is somewhat faster than dial-up. But it doesn't really matter as the large number of pine trees in East Texas prevents a large amount of people from being able to receive satellite internet without having to cut down several trees, which is a costly endeavor. Unfortunately for myself and others, AT&T is actively lying to customers about DSL coverage in the Marshall, TX area. I was promised by AT&T that DSL would be available. It was not and likely never will be as AT&T no longer deploys DSL. U-Verse is unavailable anywhere within a 300 mile radius, and I'm not holding my breath for it. Seeing as AT&T is either unwilling or unable to provide broadband to Marshall, I am moving to a new location in Marshall with fiber optic internet provided by Network Communications, who are adding fiber optic internet to many cities across East Texas.

bareley get 1MB when its suposed to be 6MB service. DSL signal goes in and out all day. After a month they still can't get it to work. I'm not paying for this junk. att is the worst. spend all day on the phone and still nothing. They own the Public Service Comm. so they are the only provider in the area. God I wish I could get Vz or any other provider. A little competition would go a long way. Paying 60+ per month for nothing but a headache. good by att, you are the worst.

I'm paying $45/month for ATT's "Elite" broadband DSL-only plan and though the plan states "up to 6mb/s" in actuality I regularly get around 3mb/s, and during peak hours drop to 1mb/s w/ an abysmal upstream. gaming is impossible and streaming movies is a pain. I /will/ be changing my service providers next week.
